Advisory Council members will be
asked to help the university expand the potential for
Bio-X and the Department of Bioengineering. Topics for
engagement or review by the Advisory Council include:
Collaboration
with the faculty to articulate the vision for the exciting
scientific and technical opportunities;
Connections
between specific science and technology in order to recognize
and exploit new developments and to guide the selection
of various opportunities;
Organization
of interdisciplinary work groups and management of interdisciplinary
multi-school resources;
Leveraging
federal funding by achieving successes that attract large
grants;
Optimizing
technology transfer in the context of Stanford’s
Office of Technology Licensing;
Fulfilling
the mutual potential of a corporate affiliates program;
Prioritizing
the research themes and the resource objectives for donor
interest.
In these and other ways the Advisory Council members will help Stanford to increase
its external impact. The mission is also to provide the members with an insider’s
view of the Bio-X program and the Department of Bioengineering so that they may
