Christopher Contag is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Microbiology & Immunology (and of Radiology, by courtesy).

The mission of Dr. Contag's laboratory is to develop and use in vivo molecular imaging tools to understand the mechanisms of disease, and the complexity of mammalian development. His lab monitors these processes noninvasively as they occur in living animals. The methods developed by his group image over a range of scales and are designed to reveal molecular nuances, and the overall patterns, of stem cell biology, infection, cell migration or gene expression in living animals. The tools have been used to advance novel therapies for cancer, genetic diseases and advance stem cell therapies.
