Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Crum's research focuses on how changes in subjective mindsets - the lenses through which information is perceived, organized, and interpreted - can alter objective reality through behavioral, psychological, and physiological mechanisms.
-
Alfredo Dubra - Professor of Ophthalmology
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Dubra's lab uses adaptive optics, a technology originally developed to observe distant stars and galaxies, to improve the optics of the eye so that individual retinal and blood cells can be visualized. -
Alfred Spormann - Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, of Chemical Engineering, and (by courtesy) of Biology
Clark Center Faculty, Clark Center Working Group MemberDr. Spormann's laboratory seeks to understand the molecular basis of unusual microbial reactions and processes. -
Alexandria Boehm - Richard and Rhoda Goldman Professor of Environmental Studies, Professor of Oceans and Senior Fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Alexandria Boehm is interested in pathogens in the environment including their sources, fate, and transport in natural and engineered systems. She is interested in understanding of how pathogens are transmitted to humans through contact with water, feces, and contaminated surfaces. Dr. Boehm's research is focused on key problems in both developed and developing countries with the overarching goal of designing and testing novel interventions and technologies for reducing the burden of disease.
-
Alexandra Konings - Associate Professor of Earth System Science, Senior Fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment and (by courtesy) of Geophysics
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Alexandra (Alex) Konings is an Associate Professor of Earth System Science at Stanford. Her work is interested in understanding (and building remote sensing tools to understand) interactions between ecosystems and water.
-
Alexander Vezeridis - Assistant Professor of Radiology (Interventional Radiology)
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyThe Stanford Interventional Radiology Translational Theranostics (SIRTT) lab, under Dr. Alexander Vezeridis, is developing next generation therapies using minimally invasive image-guided approaches.
-
Alexander Eckehart Urban - Assistant Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences (Major Laboratories and Clinical Translational Neurosciences Incubator) and of Genetics
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyThe Urban lab is investigating the effects of variation in human genomes on normal and abnormal brain development and function. -
Alexander Dunn - Professor of Chemical Engineering
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Dunn's current research is on the generation of force and motion inside living cells. -
Alex Macario - Professor of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine and (by courtesy) of Health Research and Policy
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Macario is interested in the economics of health care, in particular the tradeoffs between costs and outcomes for patients having surgery and anesthesia. -
Alex Gao - Assistant Professor of Biochemistry
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyNature has created many powerful biomolecules that are hidden in organisms across kingdoms of life. Many of these biomolecules originate from microbes, which collectively contain the most diverse gene pool among living organisms. Dr. Alex Gao's lab is integrating high-throughput computational and experimental approaches to harness the vast diversity of genes in microbes to develop new antibiotics and molecular biotechnology, and to investigate the evolution of proteins and molecular mechanisms in innate immunity.
