Maura McGinnity started as the Development Director for Interdisciplinary Life Sciences at Stanford University in March 2012. The position is part of the newly established External Relations team for the Dean of Research. In her role, Maura has overall responsibility for the development strategy and fundraising activities for Bio-X and an emerging university-wide effort in the Neurosciences.
In 2005, Maura started at Stanford in the Office of Development as the Director of Major Gifts for California. In this new position, Maura was responsible for managing a team of field fundraisers as well as leading and implementing development strategies such as engagement events, cultivation and stewardship of donors and working closely with volunteer leaders. Before Stanford, Maura served as Vice President of Corporate Strategy at Visual Numerics, a data analytics and visualization software company with seven offices worldwide, and was responsible for business development, marketing, and product management. Prior to this, Maura spent a number of years in leadership and strategy consulting roles with technology start-ups in Silicon Valley. From 1991 to 1998, Maura served as a Director of Development at the University of Rochester where she established the international fundraising office and managed corporate and regional development. Maura also lived and worked in Japan and Asia for several years.
Maura earned her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Rochester and earned her M.B.A. from the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester.
