Bio-X Affiliated FacultyThe O'Connell lab studies evolutionary innovations in physiology and behavior, from molecules to organisms to ecosystems. -
Lauren Goins - Assistant Professor of Developmental Biology
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Lauren Goins is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Developmental Biology. The Goins Lab aims to understand how cells make decisions. Their research focuses on how young, immature blood stem cells, with the potential to become many different cell types, choose between these cell fates by studying the fundamental molecular and cellular mechanisms that control the decision-making process.
-
Laura Simons - Professor of Anesthesiology, Perioperative & Pain Medicine (Pediatric)
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Simons's research projects focus on biological, neurological, cognitive, affective, and social risk and resiliency factors of the pain experience. -
Laura Seeholzer - Assistant Professor of Neurobiology
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Laura Seeholzer did her PhD at Rockefeller University with Dr. Vanessa Ruta and post-doctoral studies at UCSF with Dr. David Julius.
-
Laura Prolo - Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Laura Prolo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford University School of Medicine. After receiving her A.B. in Biology and Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis, she completed her MD and PhD in Neuroscience from Stanford University. She remained at Stanford for Neurosurgery residency, then completed a fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery at University of Washington/Seattle Children’s Hospital.
-
Laura M. K. Dassama - Assistant Professor of Chemistry
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyThe Dassama laboratory at Stanford performs research directed at understanding and mitigating bacterial multidrug resistance (MDR). Efforts to combat MDR involve two broad strategies: understanding how resistance is acquired in hopes of mitigating it, and identifying new compounds that could serve as potent antibiotics. -
Laura Gwilliams - Assistant Professor of Psychology and (by courtesy) of Linguistics
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Laura Gwilliams is jointly appointed between Stanford Psychology, Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute and Stanford Data Science. Her work is focused on understanding the neural representations and operations that give rise to speech comprehension in the human brain. To do so, she brings together insight from neuroscience, linguistics and machine learning, and takes advantage of recording techniques that operate at distinct spatial scales (MEG, ECoG and Neuropixels).
-
Laura C. Lazzeroni - Professor (Research) of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Emerita
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Lazzeroni is a statistician and data scientist who develops and implements models, methods and algorithms for complex, and sometimes not-so-complex, data in medical science and biology. -
Laura Attardi - Catharine and Howard Avery Professor of the School of Medicine and Professor of Genetics
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Attardi's research is aimed at dissecting the mechanism of p53 action and the role of target genes it activates in apoptosis and tumor suppression, using the mouse as a model system. -
Lars Steinmetz - Dieter Schwarz Foundation Endowed Professor
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyThe Steinmetz lab's research is directed at understanding such complex traits; to do so, they develop novel genomic approaches to investigate the molecular processes that link genotype to phenotype, identify the underlying factors, and quantify their contributions.
