Decoding the Proteomic Secrets of Dopamine D2 Receptor Gene Variants

The dopamine D2 receptor plays a pivotal role in a range of neurological and metabolic disorders. However, current treatments targeting this receptor often exhibit limited efficacy and may induce side effects such as weight gain and sleep disturbances. Given the high economic and health burden associated with D2-related disorders, including the staggering $34 billion cost attributed to schizophrenia alone, there is an urgent need for improved therapies.

Our project aims to investigate how genetic variations in the D2 receptor impact its function and the development of related disorders.
