Dr. Kachru's research has used the ideas and techniques of quantum field theory and string theory to address questions in theoretical cosmology, condensed matter physics, particle physics, mathematical physics, and quantum gravity.

Dr. Fan's group engages in theoretical, computational and experimental research in photonics, focused on microphotonic and nanophotonic structures like photonic crystals, and solid state devices more generally.
