Florentine Rutaganira - Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Developmental Biology
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Florentine Rutaganira uses choanoflagellates - the closest living single-celled relatives to animals - to study the origin of animal cell communication. Dr. Rutaganira applies chemical, genetic, and cell biological tools to probe choanoflagellate cell-cell communication, with implications for understanding not only animal cell signaling, but also the origin of multicellularity in animals.

Fiona Baumer - Assistant Professor of Neurology and of Pediatrics
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Fiona Baumer is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology, Division of Child Neurology. She is a graduate of the Stanford Human Biology program and pursued medical training at Harvard Medical School and Boston Children's Hospital. She returned to Stanford for epilepsy fellowship and now serves as an attending in child neurology. Her clinical efforts focus on caring for children with epilepsy. She has completed post-doctoral work in the labs of Dr. Robert Fisher and Dr.
