Dr. Kenneth Weinberg's laboratory's efforts are aimed at understanding the reciprocal interactions between immature T lymphocytes (“thymocytes”) and thymic epithelial cells, the stromal cells of the thymus which support T lymphocyte development. Such interactions are abnormal in both genetic diseases of children like severe combined immune deficiency (SCID) and the DiGeorge syndrome, and in aging and autoimmune diseases.

Under Dr. Goodson, the NanoHeat Lab studies heat transfer in electronic nanostructures and packaging, microfluidic heat sinks, and thermoelectric and photonic energy conversion devices.

Dr. Waldron's research interests are in the general area of machine design, with particular emphasis on robotics and haptics.

Dr. Ormond's research focuses on the intersection between genetics and ethics, particularly around the translation of new genetic technologies (such as genome sequencing or non-invasive prenatal diagnosis) into clinical practice.
