Dr. Marc Safran is the Chief of the Division of Sports Medicine and Fellowship Director of Sports Medicine, Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Safran specializes in Sports Medicine and arthroscopic and ligament reconstructive surgery on the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee.
Dr. Marc Lipsitch started his appointments at Stanford on January 1, 2026. From 1999-2025 he was a faculty member at Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, where he was Professor of Epidemiology (2006-2025) and founding Director of the Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics (2009-2025).
Dr. Madeleine Udell is an Assistant Professor of Management Science and Engineering (MS&E), with an affiliation with the Institute for Computational and Mathematical Engineering (ICME).
Dr. Mac Schwager is an Associate Professor in the Aeronautics and Astronautics Department at Stanford University. He earned his BS from Stanford in 2000, his MS from MIT in 2005, and his PhD from MIT in 2009. Dr. Schwager was a postdoc jointly at UPenn and MIT from 2009 to 2012, and was an assistant professor at Boston University from 2012 to 2015, before joining Stanford Aero-Astro in 2015. His research interests are in distributed algorithms for coordination, estimation, and learning in groups of robots and animals.
Dr. Maayan Levy received her Ph.D. in Immunology from the Weizmann Institute of Science. After completion of her PhD, Dr. Levy became an Assistant Professor at the Microbiology Department of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Levy has recently joined the Stanford Medicine Department of Pathology as an Assistant Professor and the Arc Institute as an Innovation Investigator in Residence.
