Talk Title: Colony variation in the relation between tempo of foraging and waste removal in harvester ant colonies
Event: Animal Behavior Society Meeting 2023 -
Biondo Biondi - Barney and Estelle Morris Professor
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Biondo Biondi and his students devise new algorithms to improve the imaging of active and passive seismic data. Images obtained from seismic data are the primary source of information on the structural and stratigraphic complexities in Earth's subsurface and on many subsurface dynamic processes. These images are constructed by processing seismic wavefields recorded at the Earth's surface and generated by either active-source (e.g., vibroseis trucks) experiments or by natural (e.g., ocean waves) and anthropogenic (e.g., vehicle traffic) sources.

Binta Diallo - Bio-X Undergraduate Fellow
2024 Undergraduate Summer Research Program ParticipantHome Department: Human Biology
Mentor: Judith Shizuru (Medicine - Blood & Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Division) -
Bingwei Lu - Professor of Pathology
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Bingwei Lu's laboratory is interested in understanding how the diverse neuronal cell types are generated and maintained in the nervous system. They are taking a combined molecular, cellular, genetic, and genomic approach in the model organisms Drosophila and mouse. To study how neuronal diversity is generated, the Lu lab focuses on investigating the mechanisms of asymmetric division of neural stem cell that balances the self-renewal and differentiation potentials of neural stem cells.

Bill Chiu - Associate Professor of Surgery (Pediatric Surgery)
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Chiu's laboratory aims to understand the mechanisms of pediatric solid tumors, precisely target the specific causes, and devise unique medical or surgical treatments for every child. -
Bianxiao Cui - Job and Gertrud Tamaki Professor of Chemistry
Bio-X Affiliated Faculty, Scientific Leadership Council MemberDr. Cui's laboratory's inerests lie in understanding the signal propagation in neurons using quantitative tools developed by physical and chemical sciences. -
Biafra Ahanonu - Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology, Perioperative & Pain Medicine
Bio-X Affiliated FacultyDr. Biafra Ahanonu, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine. He studies the neural coding and molecular mechanisms that generate specific pain percepts and behaviors via sensorimotor transformations and how the disease or therapies alter the peripheral and central nervous systems.
