Dr. Porter is the director of pediatric epilepsy at Stanford Children's Health. Her clinical and transitional research focus is on understanding epileptogenesis and developing therapies to prevent epilepsy.

Dr. Goldberg's research is directed at neuroprotection and regeneration of retinal ganglion cells and the optic nerve, a major unmet need in glaucoma and other optic neuropathies, and his laboratory is developing novel stem cell and nanotherapeutics approaches for eye repair.

Dr. Yoon's research seeks to discover the brain mechanisms responsible for schizophrenia and to translate this knowledge into the clinic to improve how we diagnose and treat this condition.

Dr. Cornfield's lab addresses several large thematic issues, including: (i) regulation of pulmonary vascular tone; (ii) oxygen sensing in the lung; (iii) biological determinants of preterm labor focusing on myometrial smooth muscle cells; (iv) developmental regulation of barrier function in the lung; and (v) the role of hypoxia-inducible factor-1 in lung development.

Dr. George's lab works on combining stem cell therapeutics and novel polymers to enhance and improve stroke recovery.

Dr. Nelson's research program is focused on the epidemiology and complex etiology of neurodegenerative disorders, including Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and multiple sclerosis.

Dr. Dionne's research investigates metamaterials - engineered materials with optical and electrical properties not found in nature. She is especially interested in plasmonic and colloidal nanocrystal-based metamaterials, including their fundamental electrodynamic properties and applications to solar energy and bioimaging.

How does neural activity in the human cortex create our sense of visual perception? The Gardner lab uses a combination of functional magnetic resonance imaging, computational modeling and analysis, and psychophysical measurements to link human perception to cortical brain activity.

Dr. Thakor's research interests are in developing and translating novel molecular guided therapies using minimally invasive image-guided techniques, especially in the field of oncology.

Dr. Egan's group is currently pursuing fundamental questions related to host-pathogen interactions in malaria, with the host erythrocyte as a focal point, employing a variety of approaches spanning molecular parasitology, stem cell biology, cell biology, biochemistry and genomics.
