Sponsored research projects allow for more in-depth collaborations between Stanford faculty and companies on specific mutual research interests.  Bio-X works closely with both the corporate organization and the Stanford faculty to understand what the interests are, and cultivate the collaborations by consistently facilitating the development process, as well as liasing closely with Stanford's Office of Technology Licensing.  Bio-X has successfully cultivated dozens of sponsored research projects, both on an individual basis as well as through the creation of joint programs with companies, such as the BioSTAR program described below.
