“Characterizing the UFMylation Pathway: Functional Analysis of Uba5, UfM1, Cdk5rap3, and Protein Interactions"
Basel’s research project focuses on studying the UFMylation pathway, a critical protein modification process involved in regulating cellular functions. By designing cell lines with dTag, Basel aims to investigate the roles of key proteins like Uba5, UFM1, Cdk5rap3, and their interacting partners in this pathway. Understanding how UFMylation influences protein function and cellular processes is vital, as dysregulation of this pathway has been linked to various diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders and cancer. Basel’s research will provide insights into the molecular mechanisms behind UFMylation and may contribute to the development of therapeutic strategies targeting these pathways.
