“Uncovering Dorsal Horn Microglial Mechanisms for Resolution of Pain"

Hyun June’s summer project focuses on understanding how myeloid-lineage immune cells, namely macrophages and microglia, induce recovery from peripheral limb injuries. Hyun June will investigate the role of these cells in tissue healing and managing pain during critical periods after injury. One key aspect is identifying the molecular markers of dysfunctional immune activation that can predict delayed recovery or chronic pain. Hyun June will use mouse models and advanced imaging techniques to track immune responses over time. The ultimate goal is to improve recovery outcomes by developing targeted therapies that restore immune balance and enhance healing.
