Karli is investigating the functional role of small proteins such as small peptide, CCRP 00547, in the regulation of asymmetric cell division in bacterium Caulobacter crescentus. Asymmetrical cell division is one of the fundamental processes in biology and ultimately leads to the generation of different cell fates.
