Research Title: Impact of Stem Cell-Derived Neurons on Intact Circuit Function

Research Description: Leslie’s research explored the wiring of new stem cell-derived neurons into intact circuits using techniques bridging bioengineering, neurosurgery, and computer science. She investigated the following critical questions: 1) How are new stem cell-derived neurons wired into the adult mammalian brain? 2) How does wiring of new neurons according to these rules impact memory storage in computational neural networks? and 3) How does wiring of new neurons in this way impact memory storage in behaving animals?

WHERE IS SHE NOW?

Leslie is the Chief Medical Officer at Orchard Therapeutics.
