In a competitive, international search process the Bio-X Senior Fellow Program Committee, chaired by Dr. Alfred Spormann, identified Russell Monds as the first “Senior Bio-X fellow”.
Russell’s research interest on the resilience of metabolic processes integrates molecular mechanistic, evolutionary, and systems-level approaches, and seeks to uncover fundamental principles of robustness in biological systems. This exciting research area complements existing activities at Stanford, but also provides an important novel thrust in research in microbial sciences. He is primarily associated with the Department of Chemical and Systems Biology.
