As a clinician specializing in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), a disease without medical cure and whose pathogenesis is incompletely understood, Dr. Sinha is keenly aware of the resultant limitations and risks of existing IBD therapies. It is precisely this need—the need to offer patients improved treatment options by better understanding the pathogenesis of IBD and its impact on patients—that motivates Dr. Sinha and is the focus of my research. Leveraging years of experience in translational research and assessing/developing innovations to improve health, he is particularly interested in developing and applying novel solutions to alleviate intestinal inflammatory conditions. The Sinha group's research is focused on developing more effective therapies and understanding the microenvironment changes in the inflamed versus normal gut in order to identify better therapeutic targets for people with GI immune-mediated disorders.
