“Mapping Brain Regions Implicated in Multiple Chronic Pain Models in Mice"
In this project, the Heifets Lab is investigating how specific parts of the brain contribute to our experience of pain. Tyler will be using tools that can selectively turn certain brain areas “on” or “off” in mice to understand how these changes affect behaviors linked to chronic pain. Tyler and the team will combine this work with data from human brain recordings to better understand the brain circuits involved in pain. By linking findings across species, the lab hopes to improve treatments for chronic pain and reduce suffering.
