Dr. Chen's group seeks to empower individuals with the collective experience of the many, combining human and artificial intelligence approaches to medicine that will deliver better care than what either can do alone.

Dr. Kochenderfer is the director of the Stanford Intelligent Systems Laboratory (SISL), conducting research on advanced algorithms and analytical methods for the design of robust decision making systems, particularly systems for air traffic control, unmanned aircraft, and other aerospace applications where decisions must be made in uncertain, dynamic environments while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Dr. Langlotz's laboratory employs deep neural networks and other machine learning technologies to design algorithms that detect and classify disease on medical images.

The Svensson Laboratory is dedicated to the discovery of new ligands that can control metabolism.

Dr. Newman's lab builds novel data science tools to better understand the cellular and molecular composition of normal and neoplastic tissues.

Dr. Kachru's research has used the ideas and techniques of quantum field theory and string theory to address questions in theoretical cosmology, condensed matter physics, particle physics, mathematical physics, and quantum gravity.

Dr. James's research interests include computer graphics, computer sound, physically based modeling and animation, and reduced-order physics models.

Research in Dr. Dinneny's lab is aimed at understanding the response of roots to water-limiting conditions and is exploring this process at different organizational scales from the individual cell type to the level of the whole plant.

Dr. Long's lab uses a multidisciplinary approach to discover new bioactive metabolite pathways and to understand how these pathways control metabolic homeostasis and organismal physiology.

Dr. Sinha is particularly interested in developing and applying novel solutions to alleviate intestinal inflammatory conditions, and on developing more effective therapies and understanding the microenvironment changes in the inflamed versus normal gut in order to identify better therapeutic targets for people with GI immune-­mediated disorders.
