Phillip C. Yang is a Professor of Medicine (Cardiovascular Medicine) at the Stanford University School of Medicine. He directs the Cardiovascular Stem Cell Laboratory (Yang Lab) and Stanford Cardiothoracic MRI Program. Dr. Yang received degrees from Stanford University and Yale University School of Medicine, and completed post-graduate training at UCLA and Stanford University Medical Centers. Dr. Yang is a physician-scientist whose research interest focuses on clinical translation of the fundamental molecular and cellular processes of myocardial restoration.
Dr. Philip Tsao's primary research interests are in understanding the molecular underpinnings of vascular disease as well as assessing disease risk. His group uses a wide range of biochemical, molecular and physiological techniques to make primary observations in cell systems as well as preclinical models. Furthermore, they continue to extend our findings to human subjects in order to confirm their clinical applicability. Current research projects include:

Dr. Philip Beachy's lab studies the function of Hedgehog proteins and other extracellular signals in morphogenesis (pattern formation) and in injury repair and regeneration (pattern maintenance). They study how the distribution of such signals is regulated in tissues, how cells perceive and respond to distinct concentrations of signals, and how such signaling pathways arose in evolution. They also study the normal roles of such signals in stem-cell physiology and their abnormal roles in the formation and expansion of cancer stem cells.
