Bio-X Affiliated Faculty

Dr. Paul Bollyky received his D.Phil from Oxford University and his MD from Harvard. He was a Internal Medicine resident at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and and Infectious Disease Fellow at the University of Washington. He has been on the faculty at Stanford since 2013. When he’s not in lab, you’ll find him hiking or rowing.

The Bollyky Lab studies bacteriophages, viruses that infect bacteria, with the goal of developing innovative strategies to improve human health.

Key areas of active research involve: 1. Bacteriophages and bacterial pathogenesis in skin and lung infections, 2. Phage therapy, specifically the development of phages to treat antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections, 3. Synthetic biology, specifically the development of phages as vectors for delivery of genes, peptides, and small molecules to human cells.
