Home Department: Bioengineering
Faculty Advisors: Markus Covert (Bioengineering) and Matt Porteus (Pediatrics, Cancer Biology)
Research Title: Across the spectrum of NF-kappaB signaling: Heterogeneity and invariance
Research Description: Jake's research focused on uncovering the molecular signaling events of the innate immune response, which orchestrates the first actions against an invading pathogen. To accomplish this, he used a combination of live-cell fluorescence microscopy, microfluidics, and computational modeling.
WHERE IS HE NOW?
Jacob is an adjunct assistant professor of biomedical informatics and biological sciences at Vanderbilt University. He works as a Core Team Member of the Agency Fund, a new philanthropic initiative whose mission is to invest in ideas and organizations that expand human agency.
